Hi Guys. I have just played a bit of the alpha teaser version of Fran Bow. I enjoyed the look and feel a lot! I’ve just got some thoughts: 1) the red pill effect is really scary the first time, but maybe you should restrict it. After using it a bunch in each room, it loses its powerful effect. 2) there are a number of spelling mistakes, 3) the puzzles (at least early on) are a bit easy, but also a bit convient. For example, the “HIDE” puzzle doesn’t explain at all why she knows the secret to the code or why the pills are stored with the kids.
Looking forward to the finished game!

Hey Josh! Glad you liked it and wanted to feedback! The pill-effect is something that we are doing a lot to in the full version, and those spelling mistakes will be overlooked by translators so we won’t have any common mistakes in there :) As for the entire hospital, we are definitely adding to it more content since it’s such an awesome place!

yo I dl’d the linux version and would like to play but whenever I click on ‘runner’ in the extracted dir I just get a ‘Choose Application’ dialogue (no luck through terminal either).
I admit I’m using an older version of ubuntu than yall tested with (12.10 lubuntu) but are there any dependencies I should know about? or do I need to upgrade?
    cheers bros

Gosh, I really enjoyed the demo! I love the disturbing & oppressive atmosphere, and the art and animation is gorgeous! You’ve really captured a particular, weird, floating, dreamy sort of mood. Fran’s naiveté is emblematic of this. Good luck with the rest of the project! I’m certain it’ll be awesome! :D

Not really from those games, no, but we have seen they have some similaritys (like Trilbys notes).. Saving up them all in our to-play-list when we get Fran Bow done! :=)

I’ve played the demo and it was really awesome, in my opinion, since I like spooky and horror games. But I was wondering when the full version will come out and if I’ll have to buy to take it! (If it was already written it means I’m dumb, don’t mind me)

  15. raventhe says:

Hey guys. Really enjoyed what I played of the alpha so far, particularly the ghosts of the children hinting at their problems.

Admittedly I could’ve pushed at it a bit longer but I got stuck with the clock puzzle due to what I suspect is some kind of bug, unless I’m just missing something.

Firstly, at some point when I clicked on objects Fran would walk to them but would no longer interact with them. I went back to the clock to try and set the time and couldn’t open it. I realised then that the “CLOSED” button was still showing up the top of the screen (but no clock). Clicking CLOSED and then clicking the clock again seemed to fix it but it was pretty confusing.

Beyond that, I tried setting the time on the clock to midnight–”Mr. Midnight,” right?–but didn’t feel like it did anything. It wasn’t clear to me if I could control the minute hand although I tried to move it. I set the hour hand directly upward but every time I closed and re-opened the clock, it would be back where it started, and the computer didn’t seem impacted.

Hope this info helps. Congratulations on your funding and good luck with the rest of the project! I’ll keep an eye out for the finished product.

    • Dev says:

The same thing happened to me, after setting the clock and trying to disarm the alarm, I was unable to ineract with anything. I had to close out of the game 3 times before I was able to interact again.

  16. Miao says:

I really enjoyed the demo (I played on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1), and I’ll certainly buy the game when it’s out. My problems so far; 1. sometimes the game froze (but you’ll probably figure something out, since it’s still just an alpha); 2. the message on the window in the room with the nurse in the wheelchair was unreadable (the letters were crammed together, no biggie, but for perfection’s sake :); 3. maybe because I played on a tablet, but I was hardly able to read the message above the clock in the doctor’s room in ‘nightmare-world’, the letters were too faint and the spot was too dark; 4. maybe you might consider a higher resolution for the mobile game, for smartphones, the screen might be probably too small for the gameplay whereas for tablets it’s a bit pixalated (however, I’d also play a pixel-y version ^_^

  17. Amber says:

Hey, I can’t wait for the game! I love the demo and hope you stick to the funny comments she made about the ghosts/demons and other world. I would also hope you add more comments about how you interact with things and more sarcastic and funny commentary. It makes for a interesting mix and really shows how much Fran is messed up. The horror commentary could be on a different level or something. Like in the first demos or some of them. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it!

  18. anthony says:

  20. Zoee says:

When do you think the full version would be out ? :)

  21. Paulo says:

Hello guys. My name is Paulo and I’m from Brazil. First of all congratulations for the excellent work that you’ve been done. I’m can’t wait for the final version. One question: is there a chance this game be in the next gen consoles? I have a Ps4 and I would be very happy to see the game in it. Well at least think on it ok? Congratulations again.

    • killmonday says:

There is actually a big chance that Fran Bow will be available for PS3, PS4 and maybe even PSVITA! We’ll see! It’s mostly about costs, so it would happen after the PC release.

just I have a question… Can I play the game with my doughter and son or you dont recommend it? they have 9 and 8 years old.

    thank for this game

    saludos desde mexico,

  24. Mohsen says:

    Hello! great job : )
I played the demo version two times and found this serious bug issue: in some cases character wouldn’t interact with objects and also overlap the sight icon by standing front of them. some objects had serious problems, such as the clock: as I was setting it, the hour hand would move no matter how many times I turn the other one and some times the clock window wouldn’t open(it happened to the computer too).

applying some variation to the background music (as location changes) adds more touch!
puzzles and riddles are quite easy and irrelevant and mostly don’t require innovations and (more important)imagination.

I hope full version of FRAN BOW comes out soon with more awesome ideas!
